ENJOY THE MOST AUTHENTIC REGION OF SPAIN

Incentive Trip Huelva

Huelva is one of Spain's most unexplored provinces. Perhaps that is why you can best enjoy the real Spain here. In addition to the traditions, many of the Spanish delicacies come from this province. The best Pata Negra, Spanish ham, comes from the mountains of Huelva, and the tastiest Gambas come from the ports of Huelva. Huelva is known in Spain for its traditions, did you know that the most important pilgrimage in Spain is the Camino Rociero. Once a year, the brotherhoods travel from all the villages and towns in the area by horse and carriage to El Rocio, a very special village in Huelva.

We recommend this tour through Huelva for adventurous groups who are looking for an authentic experience and want to get to places where you as a regular tourist will not easily find yourself.

Day 1: Into the mountains

The first day you will discover the mountains of Huelva. The area is known for its artisanal cheeses and the Iberian Jamon (dried ham), the Pata Negra, you can't produce more organic meat. Did you know that this is the only type of meat that lowers the colesterol level.

Immediately upon arrival we organize a mountain bike route with a visit to a cheese farm or pig farm. Here we visit the installations, the traditional process is explained, we hold a tasting and a workshop making cheese or cutting ham. We will end the visit with a lunch consisting of traditional dishes from local products before continuing our tour to the village of Aracena.

In Aracena we take care of the check-in at the 4 star hotel and there is room for free time and perhaps a well-deserved siesta.

At the end of the afternoon we visit the caves of Aracena, the Grutas de las Maravillas, one of the most beautiful dripstone caves there is and an absolute Must See in the region.

We end the day with dinner in one of the best restaurants in the village.

Optionally, you can add an extra activity at the end of the evening. Star gazing with a professional astronomer. The mountains of Huelva are one of the places with the least light pollution in Europe. A perfect place to study the Milky Way.

Day 2: A visit to Mars

A marching landscape on earth? Those are the banks of the Rio Tinto River. The water of this red river contains many metals and micro-organisms that provide the special red color. Life is not possible, or is it? Nasa is investigating life in this unlikely environment. We visit this river during a guided walk who tells all the peculiarities of this place.

To get here it is optionally possible to organize a 4x4 off road rally from Aracena to the Rio Tinto. This has an additional cost but is a unique experience with real off road vehicles participating in official competitions.

We end the walk along the Rio Tinto in a bull farm. We observe these impressive beasts in the vast meadows they have at their disposal before having lunch in this unique location. Optionally accompanied by a horse show with real Iberian horses.

Another option is to replace lunch with a Paella cooking workshop.

After lunch we move to La Palma where we discover the Bodegas Rubio. A special bodega where the legend of Luis Felipe started. The story goes that the French left barrels of wine here that were discovered decades later. These aged wines have become the basis of a new type of wine that is now sold in limited editions at exclusive prices all over the world. Our guide concludes this visit with a tasting of these special brandies.

We end day 2 with a dinner in El Rocio, the western village which is surrounded by the Doñana National Park and spend the night in a typical hotel.

Day 3: Doñana and El Rocio

El Rocio is such a place that is difficult to explain, you must have seen it. In addition to its function as a pilgrimage site, the Spaniards like to come here on weekends to ride horses and enjoy the beautiful nature of Doñana. The village is completely unpaved, you will find special high bars where you can drink a beer on your horse and the traditional houses all have a terrace on the street side where you can drink, sing and dance with the neighbors, while the horses get stuck put on the beams that every house has on its doorstep.

The Doñana Natural Park is known for the many birds that live here in the swamp area, for the migration of birds this is an important stop between Europe and Africa. You will also find special animals such as the Lynx, wild horses, cows, deer and large colonies of Flamenco's.

In the morning we start with a 4x4 safari through the swamps of Doñana, with binoculars, telescope and English speaking guide we set out to spot wildlife and enjoy this vast nature reserve.

We leave the swamp and enter the woods where the horse and carts are waiting for us. With this we drive back to El Rocio but not before enjoying a delicious aperitif with entertainment from a local music group, a Coro Rociero consisting of flamenco dancers, singers and guitars. With a horse and carriage we ride through the woods while the entertainment of our Coro Rociero continues. We then make a final stop where lunch is waiting for us in the middle of nature. With the service and quality of a restaurant, we enjoy a delicious lunch in a unique environment.

The tour ends in El Rocio where we visit the church before boarding the bus for our last ride towards Seville.

Depending on the flight times, there is still room for free time and dinner in Seville.
