Las Setas Seville

Las Setas, formerly known as the Metropol Parasol, is one of Seville’s most remarkable contemporary landmarks. Designed by the German architect Jürgen Mayer and completed in 2011, it was created as part of the redevelopment of Plaza de la Encarnación. The vision behind the project was to introduce a modern gathering space that would revitalise the historic centre and add a new architectural dimension to the city.

What makes Las Setas truly distinctive is that it is constructed entirely from wood. As the largest wooden structure in the world, it represents a bold architectural statement in a city renowned for its Moorish palaces and baroque churches. The six sweeping parasols appear to float above the square, giving the area a striking and contemporary character.

Visitors can climb the structure and walk along the elevated panoramic pathways at the top. From this height, you enjoy spectacular 360 degree views across Seville. The Cathedral, La Giralda and the vast historic centre stretch out beneath you.

Sunset is undoubtedly the most impressive moment to visit. As daylight slowly fades, Seville’s churches and especially the Cathedral become beautifully illuminated. At the same time, the structure itself transforms through subtle coloured lighting that shifts in tone and intensity. The gradual transition from natural daylight to a skyline glowing with illuminated monuments creates a truly magical atmosphere.

At the top, immersive audiovisual experiences enhance the visit even further. Carefully designed light and sound elements add an additional sensory layer to the panoramic setting.

For corporate groups, Las Setas offers exceptional event possibilities. The upper terraces can be reserved for private meetings, exclusive lunches or dinners overlooking the city. With full audiovisual support, it becomes an inspiring venue for presentations or networking moments. For a truly memorable touch, it is even possible to enjoy a personalised film in the immersive room, tailored specifically to your company or event.

Beneath the structure lies the Antiquarium, where Roman and Moorish archaeological remains are displayed. Las Setas therefore connects Seville’s rich heritage with a modern and innovative identity.

Its central location makes it easy to combine with other activities in the city centre, such as a walking tour, bike tour or a city game like our SquareScape at Plaza de la Encarnación.
