POINTS OF INTEREST SEVILLE

Parque María Luisa

Just south of the center along the river and adjacent to the Plaza de España is this beautiful green oasis of tranquility. This romantic park with its lush flora and fauna has everything a tourist could wish for on a hot summer day in Seville.

The park was initially part of the Palace Gardens of the San Telmo Palace. In 1893, Duchess María Luisa Fernanda donated it to the city of Seville. A French landscaper then designed it and for the Ibero-American exhibition it was further embellished and two squares were created: the Plaza de España and the Plaza de América.

In addition to the impressive long pedestrian boulevards, you will find beautiful pavilions, soothing fountains and ponds, exotic trees and plants, colorful flowers and a wealth of orange trees. The Moorish ponds and architecture give the whole a fairytale look.

Unique is "the fountain of the lions" a beautiful fountain surrounded by four water-spewing stone lions.

The many water features are inhabited by swans and ducks. There are also many birds, especially parrots and pigeons. The Plaza de America is also called "Square of the pigeons" because of the countless white pigeons that reside here.

Do you want to enjoy this parque during a team building activity, have a look at our activities María Luisa Games, Plaza de España Dropping and Bike Adventure Sevilla.
